The RallyeHeart of Gazelles OrganizationBiosPhoto AlbumIn The NewsContact Us
The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles is an adventure for women only. Their sensibility is naturally turned towards children and other women. This is the logic that, in 2001, led to the spontaneous creation of HEART OF GAZELLES, the rally charity that devotes the force and image of the Rally to humanitarian causes.

In 2006, over 100,000 €uros were collected to help the underprivileged women and children of Morocco.  The organisation worked on three programs:

Medical – The Medical Caravan, a mobile dispensary that follows the Rallye in the desert, gives over one thousand five hundred consultations in eight days. At the same time this not for profit organization lists and identifies the needs of the populations in these remote regions of Morocco and each year brings the heavy equipment that the Moroccans would otherwise be deprived of.
Educational - "Heart of Gazelles" supports the creation of day-nurseries and schools, distributes school supplies, finances equipment and threads for weaving workshops, helps BAYTI (a Moroccan organization) in its actions like the restoration of the Street Children’s Centre in Essaouira.

Association - "Heart of Gazelles " supports, by fund-raising events, the not for profit organisation SOLIDARITE FEMININE which works for the social reinsertion of single mothers with young children. Childcare equipment (nappies, baby milk...) and cooking equipment for the organisation's restaurant.

2007 PICALA PROJECT - Many Moroccan children have to walk several kilometres every day to reach their college.  Financing bicycles (picala means “bicycle” in Berber) to help them get there easier: what a worthy project for the Heart of Gazelles association in partnership with AZEKKA (www.azekka.org).  On October 21st 2007, the first 80 bicycles were presented to schoolchildren in Morocco’s SKOURA region... 80 girls who had to walk 2 hours every day to reach their college! The students each signed an agreement to study hard in class, and to use their Picala to get to college.

In Canada, the “Heart of Gazelles Organization” collected $11,000.00 for "Opération Enfant Soleil", an organization that comes to the aid of sick children in Québec.  Also, the Quebec Cystic Fibrosis Association / Association québécoise de la fibrose kystique (AQFK) has been chosen to be Special Partner of the Québec division for the 2009 edition of the rally. As they rise to the challenges of the race, Canadian participants will also be helping people suffering from this terrible disease through their valiant efforts.
